Julia Müer

Julia Müer studied art history and philosophy in Mainz and Stuttgart, and from 1999 set and costume design at the Dresden Art College with Andreas Reinhardt, Henning Schaller and Johannes Leiacker. From 2003 to 2008 she worked as Johannes Leiacker's permanent assistant.

 

In 2005 she won the scholarship of the Hellerau European Centre of Arts. In 2007 Rusalka, a joint production of Julia Müer and director Katharina Thoma was awarded second prize of the Directors' Award of European Opera Houses. In the same year she was a finalist at the 5th International Set and Costume Design Competition in Graz.

 

She debuted in the Dresden Semperoper as a costume designer of Gounod's Faust in 2008. In 2009, she created set and costume designs for Katharina Thoma's direction of Vanessa (Samuel Barber) at the Malmö Opera House. In 2010 she is creating scenic design for Albert Herring, which is directed by Keith Warner and will be premiered at the Montepulciano International Cantiere d'Arte Festival. (March 2010)
