Stefano Simone Pintor graduated in Theory and History of Theatre at the University of Turin and in Stage Direction at the School of Dramatic Arts "Paolo Grassi" in Milan.

 

As of 2005 he worked for five seasons as organizer, assistant director and stage director for the Associazione Teatrale Duende and Eugenio de' Giorgi at the Teatro Olmetto in Milan.

 

From 2008 he has been assistant director on several opera productions, alongside directors such as Luca Ronconi, Francesco Micheli, Gabriele Lavia, Damiano Michieletto, Guy Cassiers, William Kentridge, Laurent Pelly, David McVicar and Robert Carsen and working in many prestigious theatres as the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Opera of Florence, the NCPA in Beijing, the Opera of Marseilles, the Bolshoi in Moscow, the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo.

 

As a stage director of dramas, he produced numerous plays, including "Commedia all'improvviso" (at the Academy of Theatrical Arts in Krakow), "Via Giona, 78" (staged at the Teatro Litta of Milan). In 2009 he founded the theatre company Impresa Teatrale Fratelli Meucci, which produced various plays, such as "Santa la Terra", winner of the prizes Best Drama and Best Performance at 2011 Lodi di Pace Contest. In 2013 he wrote and directed “Cibus”, an interactive show based on the history of food.

 

As an opera director, in 2011 he won the 2° prize of the international competition "European Opera Directing Prize" organized by Camerata Nuova, thanks to which in 2012 he staged "The Magic Flute" by W.A. Mozart for the project Opera Domani produced by As.Li.Co. In 2014 he staged an “Aida” by G. Verdi, again for As.Li.Co., and a successful “Orpheus and Eurydice” by Gluck at the 39° Cantiere Internazionale d'Arte in Montepulciano, with the conduction of M° Roland Böer. (September 2014)
