Thaddeus Strassberger began his career when he was awarded the prestigious European Opera Prize in 2005. Opera News recently featured him as one of twenty-five influential operatic artists.
In the season 2013/14 he makes his debut with the Ekaterinburg State Academic Opera, directing and designing SATYAGRAHA, the first ever production of a Philip Glass opera in Russia. Further debuts in 2014 include The Royal Opera Covent Garden, where he will direct both Placido Domingo in I DUE FOSCARI, as well as a world premiere opera by Søren Nils Eichberg.
2013 he directs THE VOYAGE OF EDGAR ALLAN POE (Staatstheater Braunschweig), I DUE FOSCARI (Theater an der Wien) and DON GIOVANNI (The Norwegian Opera) and Sergei Tanejev’s monumental opera,THE ORESTEIA (a co-production with Bard Summerscape in New York and The Mariinksy Theatre).

His production of I DUE FOSCARI with Plácido Domingo has recently been seen in Los Angeles and Valencia. His production of Rossini'sLA GAZZETTA (Rossini in Wildbad Festival, Germany) garnered nominations fo rboth Best Production and Best Direction from Opernwelt Magazine in 2008.
Strassberger earned his degree in Engineering from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City and received a Fulbright Fellowship to complete the Corso di Specializzazioneper Scenografi Realizzatori at Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 2001.
